North East Scotland College has launched a recruitment drive for new board members.

The NESCol Regional Board plays a key role in strategic planning and shaping the delivery of education and training.

Susan Elston, chairwoman of the NESCol Regional Board, said: “We are in the midst of a period of significant challenge and, most importantly, of great opportunity both for NESCol and the north-east of Scotland.

“As an anchor institution in the communities we serve, there are ambitious plans to grow and evolve. We work closely with industry to meet the changing needs of the regional economy and are excited about what the future holds.

“The current board vacancies provide a platform for individuals who share our vision to play an integral role in delivering those aspirations for NESCol.

"It is a fantastic chance to join an experienced, progressive and energetic board at a crucial time for our college and the sector more widely.”

NESCol delivers to more than 20,000 full-time, part-time and distance learning students each year.

For the £44 million of Scottish Government funding received annually, it is estimated the college is responsible for an economic impact of £400 million.

It is a priority of the board to continue working towards gender balance and broad representation of the diverse population of the north-east of Scotland. Applications from traditionally underrepresented groups are encouraged.

NESCol is also keen to embrace the expertise from a wide range of industries and sectors.

The board has extensive energy industry representation and applications from individuals with experience in other key areas of the regional economy are welcome.

Applications remain open until March 22. Visit www.nescol.ac.uk/board-appointment for more information.
