Alzheimer Scotland groups return for December

A number of groups organised by Alzheimer Scotland will take place across Aberdeenshire in December.

These community groups are there to be enjoyed by anyone living with dementia or experiencing difficulties with their memory, including their families and friends.

All are welcome; people who can attend independently and/or for those unable to do so should come with a companion who can provide any support for them.

Those attending groups are responsible for organising their own transport to and from activities.

Alzheimer Scotland activities happening in Aberdeenshire this month are as follows:

December 6 (Tuesday)

  • Turriff Hae A News - 11am-12.30pm at Turriff Library

For people living with Dementia and their carers to meet up, have a cuppa, chat and take part in an activity

  • Insch Social Group - 2-3pm at Bennachie Leisure Centre

A social group for people living with dementia and their carers to have a blether, cuppa and some festive fun.

December 7 (Wednesday)

  • Westhill Social Group - 2-3pm at Westhill Library

A social group for people living with dementia and their carers to have a blether, cuppa and some festive fun.

December 8 (Thursday)

  • Ellon Social Group - 2-3pm at The Kirk Centre

A social group for people living with dementia and their carers to have a blether, a cuppa and some Christmas fun.

  • Ellon Carers Support Group - 2-3pm at The Kirk Centre (Forvie Room)

For people who support someone with dementia, to get together for a chat with others in the same situation, share information and experiences.

  • Activities And Social Group - 1.30-3pm at Banchory Town Hall

For people living with Dementia and their carers, come along and enjoy a chat, cuppa and social activities.

Due to the local pantomime in Hall, this group will run on the second and fourth Thursdays only in December.

For people living with Dementia and their carers, join for some gentle chair exercise, social activities and a cuppa.

  • Stonehaven Carer Support Group - 10.30am-12pm at Stonehaven Community Education Centre

For people who support someone with dementia, to get together for a chat with others in the same situation, share information and experiences.

  • Peterhead Hae A News - 11am-12.30pm at Peterhead Library

For people living with Dementia and their carers to meet up, have a cuppa, chat and take part in an activity.

  • Huntly Social Group - 1.30-2.30pm at Square Deal

A social group for people living with dementia and their carers to have a blether, a cuppa and some festive fun with Dee.

December 15 (Thursday)

  • Mintlaw Hae A News - 11am-12.30pm at Mintlaw Library, MACBI Community Hub.

The outfoor activity group from Aden has moved indoors over the winter months.

December 20 (Tuesday)

  • Cake And Curling - 11am-12.30pm at Turriff Library

A monthly group for people with dementia and their carer's to enjoy a game of floor curling, followed by a cuppa and cake.

December 21 (Wednesday)

  • Music And More Christmas Group - 11am-12.30pm online

Come online and join Aimee for a Festive themed sing-a-long, contact Kathy to receive the link.

December 22 (Thursday)

  • Banff Hae A News - 11am-12.30pm at Banff Library

For people living with Dementia and their carers to meet up, have a cuppa, chat and take part in an activity.

Miriam will join us with her viola to play Christmas and Scottish tunes and have a bit of a sing-song.

For people living with Dementia and their carers, come along and enjoy a chat, cuppa and social activities.

There will be no Huntly Carers Support Group in December due to the festive closure of the Linden Centre.

A brand new carers support group will be launching in Port Elphinstone in January.
