All your north-east winners from the Scottish Café & Bakery Awards

A total of 17 awards were presented to north-east establishments as part of this year's Scottish Café & Bakery Awards.

Formerly the Scottish Café Awards, they aim to celebrate the best in the Scottish coffee industry who are the real masters of coffee and reward the very best professionals and establishments in the cafe industry.

Cafe of the Year (North) was presented The Chocolate Bar in Ellon, while Delgatie Castle near Turriff claimed Best Visitors Café and a highly commended in Best Team Cafe losing out in that category to Nooks and Crannies in Fraserburgh, themselves a triple winner on the night with the Best Themes Café title and highly commended in Tearoom of the Year.

Turriff based Traffords were awarded the Unique Café of The Year title, with runners up The Highlander Cafe Bus in Aberdeen.

Trafford's Marg Chalmers commented: "We are still in shock and so delighted we won the The Scottish Cafe awards tonight for Unique Coffee Shop.

"This award is dedicated to our fabby team -Rachel, Caroline, Valarie, Gail, Grace, Sandra and Helen and also our customers who support us and for all who voted."

There was also a local double win in the Best Community Café section with the overall going to Green Pastures Café in Westhill and the highly commended to the Bennachie Leisure Centre Community Café in Insch.

This prestigious award ceremony took place on Sunday, February 18 at the Doubletree by Hilton in Glasgow, a night that brought together the industry’s best for celebration and networking opportunities.

The winners for the 4th Scottish Café & Bakery Awards 2024 are:

Café of the Year (North) - The Chocolate Bar (Ellon).

Café of the Year (Central) - Broch Café (Strathyre).

Café of the Year (South West) - Smile Cafe (Glasgow).

Café of the Year (South East) - Bridge 49 Cafe Bar and Bistro (Linlithgow).

Café of the Year (South) - Old Toll Bar Café (Gretna).

Café of the Year (Overall Winner) - Smile Cafe (Glasgow).

Best Loved Café of the Year (North) - Sally’s Café (Aberdeen).

Best Loved Café of the Year (Central) - 3G at The Eatrium (Perth).

Best Loved Café of the Year (South West) - Smile Café (Glasgow).

Best Loved Café of the Year (South East) - The Gilmerton Bridge Cafe (Edinburgh).

Best Loved Café of the Year (South) - Loulabelles (Innerleithen).

Best Loved Café of the Year (Overall Winner) - 3G at The Eatrium (Perth).

Best Themes Café - Nooks and Crannies (Fraserburgh); Highly Commended went to An Tobar (Isle of Mull).

Best Café Food - Billington’s Coffee House (Lenzie); Highly Commended went to Rawlings Love to Eat (Glasgow).

Café Kitchen of the Year - Green Pastures Café (Westhill); Highly Commended went to Taste of Argyll kitchen (Oban).

Best Cafe Ambience - Caffé Calla (Glasgow); Highly Commended went to Billington’s Coffee House (Lenzie).

Best Coffee House - Roxy’s Coffee and Tea House (Oban); Highly Commended went to Bowmans Coffee House (Dundee).

Best of Glasgow - Little Royal Cafe (Glasgow); Highly Commended went to The Crazy Chef’s Café (Glasgow).

Best of Edinburgh - The Gilmerton Bridge Café (Edinburgh); Highly Commended went to Miro’s (Edinburgh).

Best Team Café - Nooks and Crannies (Fraserburgh); Highly Commended went to Delgatie Castle Tea Room (Turriff)

Bistro of the Year - On a Roll (Burntisland); Highly Commended went to Sands, A Place By The Sea (Burntisland).

Best of Dundee - Sweetpea Cafe (Dundee); Highly Commended went to Empire State Coffee Artisan Roasters (Dundee).

Best of Aberdeen - Sweet Mumma’s Kitchen (Aberdeen); Highly Commended went to The Long Dog Café (Aberdeen).

Best Community Café - Green Pastures Café (Westhill); Highly Commended went to Bennachie Leisure Centre Community Café (Insch)

Best Not for Profit Café - St John’s & Kings Park Church Community Café (Dalkeith); Highly Commended went to Beatson Café (Glasgow)

Unique Café of The Year - Traffords Coffee House (Turriff); Highly Commended went to The Highlander Cafe Bus (Aberdeen)

Dessert Parlour of the Year - Sweet Bakes Patisserie (Arbroath); Highly Commended went to What The Scoop (Ayr)

Best Visitors Café - Delgatie Castle Tearoom (Turriff); Highly Commended went to Deskford Garden Galleries (Cullen)

Best Coffee Shop- Arlene’s coffee shop (Craignure, Isle of Mull); Highly Commended went to Spoons Coffee House (Paisley)

Shoppers Café of The Year - Sally’s Café (Aberdeen); Highly Commended went to Ramblers Coffee Shop (Peebles)

Garden Centre Café of The Year - Rouken Glen Garden (Giffnock); Highly Commended went to The Glass House Restaurant at Dunbar Garden (Dunbar)

Bakery of the Year - Paton’s place (Glasgow); Highly Commended went to Archipelago Bakery (Edinburgh)

Tearoom of the Year - Another Tilly Tearoom (Dunblane); Highly Commended went to Nooks & Crannies (Fraserburgh)

Isle’s Café of the Year - The Colonsay Pantry (Isle of Colonsay); Highly Commended went to The Island Café (Isle of Coll)

Restaurant of the Year - Spoons Coffee House (Paisley); Highly Commended went to The Glass House Restaurant at Dunbar Garden Centre (Dunbar)

Espresso Bar of the Year - Jintz Express (Bannockburn); Highly Commended went to Machina Espresso (Edinburgh)

Farm Shop/Café of the Year - Auchengree Farm Shop (Beith); Highly Commended went to Edenmill Farm Shop (Glasgow)

Deli of the Year - Jill’s Deli (Edinburgh); Highly Commended went to Pietro Deli (Glasgow)

Sandwich Shop of the Year - Bite Me Sandwich Bar (Glasgow); Highly Commended went to Ruglen Rolls (Glasgow)

Café Bar of the Year - The Waterfront Café Bar (Stonehaven); Highly Commended went to Filmhouse Cafe Bar (Edinburgh)

A Spokesperson for the 4th Scottish Café & Bakery Awards 2024 said: “It was a great night as we hosted our first event under our rebrand.
