An interesting dissertation by Dr Jon Tyler on the trials and tribulations encountered by the Ferryhill Railway Heritage Trust in their efforts to return steam to Aberdeen was warmly received by his audience at Garioch Heritage society's meeting last week at the Heritage centre in Inverurie.

Chairman of the Ferryhill Railway Heritage Trust Jon gave a vivid account of some of the difficulties and successes including the restoration of a turn-table which had been funded in part by a lottery grant.

It was clear that Jon's enthusiasm and that of his fellow members was mainly responsible for their success.

The vote of thanks was given by Garioch Heritage Society member and fellow steam enthusiast Charlie Milne.
