Some six years after it closed to the public, restoration work to bring a popular Abereenshire attraction back into use is nearing completion.
Alford Valley Community Railway (AVCR) have been working since last year to revamp the station and track to bring it back into use following the securing of funding.
An extensive checklist of tasks has been undertaken by the volunteers, including the recent painting of the building and installation of a new kitchen on site.
In a recent update on their Facebook page the scale of the latest works to get the attraction open were highlighted.
They wrote: "Today saw 14 volunteers on site doing all different work programs to get us closer to opening.
"Ground maintenance, weeding, strimming and cutting of grass has been done. The back of the fence has been started with some of the shrubbery having to come down to assist access.
"Platform area has been swept and the platform edge finished painting. The new entrance gate is nearly finished and slabs are being relayed.
"In the shed oil changes and diesel tanks have been cleaned out. Brass domes polished and locos cleaned. Brakes adjusted and lubricants added.
"The store rooms shelving has been brought in and fitted. CCTV is now fitted and working. Kitchen fitting is underway.
"Work is also being done to get the trains back in service."
