Albacappella singers will now practice in Garlogie.

An Aberdeenshire singing group has moved to a new location after an influx of new members.

Albacappella, a ladies’ four-part harmony chorus, has moved its rehearsals to Garlogie Hall, having previously rehearsed in Peterculter.

The award-winning group has grown in numbers following a successful recruitment campaign earlier this year, and its previous rehearsal hall was too small for its swelling numbers.

The chorus, which sings traditional and modern songs, is part of the Ladies’ Association of British Barbershop Singers and is preparing to compete in Association’s national competition taking place in Harrogate, England, in October.

Chairperson Sylvia Sanguinetti commented: “We enjoyed rehearsing in Peterculter but needed more breakout rooms for small group practice, so the Garlogie Hall is a fantastic new venue.

"Our members come from across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, so the location is perfect for us.

"We are a friendly group of ladies, ranging in age from young women in their 20s to our mature singers in their 70s.

“In Peterculter we welcomed many local ladies to our chorus who enjoy singing and hope women in Garlogie and its surroundings will come and join us too.

"We do not ask for any experience – just a love of singing and a sense of humour!

“We are loving our new rehearsal space and hope to share our music with the local community soon.”

Albacappella rehearsals take place on Wednesdays at 7pm until 9.45pm at Garlogie Hall, Garlogie.

The chorus is available for events and celebrations, with a full repertoire
