AN ACOUSTIC concert was something completely different for the Acorn centre in Inverurie on Friday evening.

Singers/song-writers Adam Beattie and Fiona Bevan were joined on stage by an acoustic ensemble made up of Adam's sister Sarah Beattie, Emily De Simone, and Coralie Usmani playing double bass, violin and cello.

It was one of the few good thing to come out of Covid in as much that Adam and Fiona met and discovered their respective work was complementary.

Fiona's opening song she told the audience was written with a broken heart - now happily mended.

But the haunting melody conveyed the sadness behind the music.

The Acorn concert contained some very new material as well as one of Sarah's popular recordings entitled Wild Angels, Sweet Demons.

For Adam it was a welcome return to Inverurie.

Son of Bob and Ann Beattie he began his education at Market Place school going on to Inverurie Academy, with the story part of one of his numbers.

At Glasgow university he studied product design engineering until his true love music and composing came to the fore.

Fiona, from Suffolk had a similarly circuitous route to music.

She said: "I was studying English literature but was always drawn to playing with various bands and groups and composing songs from my own experience."
