Aberdeenshire Schools join together for Schools Sports Association Cross Country Championships
SCHOOLS from throughout Aberdeenshire visited Huntly to compete in this year’s inter-schools cross country championships.
The North Aberdeenshire Schools Sports Association Cross Country Championships took place at The Gordon Schools earlier this month with seven schools from the local area attending the event.
The Gordon Schools had pupils from each year participating in the event, with both senior and junior classes taking part in the competition.
Diane Harper, Principal Teacher of Health and Wellbeing at The Gordon Schools said: “It was great to see so many pupils participating and representing their schools in the event.
“We were so impressed with the positive attitude of The Gordon Schools pupils and were grateful to all those who helped marshal and officiate at the event, making it an enjoyable day for all.”
The Gordon Schools took home four wins for their efforts, achieving two second place awards in the S4-6 girls and S3 boys categories and two third place medals in the S1 girls and S2 boys sections.
Ellon Academy were named as the overall event winner for the girls competition, with two first place and two third place award wins.
The overall boys winner was Meldrum Academy, who won two first place medals in the S3 and S4-6 cross country events.
Other Aberdeenshire schools who won medals at the event included Inverurie Academy, Banff Academy Turriff Academy and Mintlaw Academy.
