Aberdeenshire proves a good viewing spot for the partial solar eclipse
This morning's partial eclipse of the sun was able to be viewed by many in Aberdeenshire as partial cloud cover meant that the north-east had better conditions than most of the country.
The partial solar eclipse started at 10.07amand reach its maximum at 11.14am and concluded at around 12.26pm dependant on location.
Viewing the eclipse directly with the naked eye can be hazardous, even if it’s partially covered by the moon so indirect projection such as using a pinhole camera was needed to see the effect.
Observers were able to watch the transit of the moon as it moved across the face of the upper reaches of the sun.
Those waiting on a full eclipse have a long wait as unfortunately the next full solar eclipse in the UK isn't until September23, 2090.
The next partial solar eclipse will be visible from the UK on October 25, 2022, where up to a quarter of the sun will be obscured.
