Gordon MP Richard Thomson has welcomed the news that Aberdeenshire has been ranked number one in a global list of the best holidays destinations for 2023 by the highly influential Good Housekeeping magazine.

In its latest Best Destination guide for 2023, Good Housekeeping highlights Aberdeenshire’s “glorious coastline packed with wildlife” and “majestic mountains”.

Specifically mentioned as an attraction is Newburgh Beach.

Commenting, Mr Thomson said: “This is a fantastic boost for tourism in Aberdeenshire and helps get the region noticed by a whole new range of potential visitors.

“I’m particularly pleased that Newburgh Beach specifically gets a mention as a recommended place to visit.

“As we look forward to 2023 and an increase in tourism activity, this accolade is the best possible start to the new year, coming at a time when people traditionally turn their thoughts to next year’s holidays.”
