The results of the 2017 election in East Garioch were as follows -
Conservative - Dominic Lonchay 1429
Green - Martin Ford (incumbent) 850 921.27
Liberal Democrats - Fergie Hood (incumbent) 842 1077.53
SNP - Glen Reid 688 695.96 706.30 707.68 752.38 1360.51
SNP - Conor McKay 571 577.87 590.28 591.88 658.89
Labour - Ann Thorpe 179 228.57 294.78 297.37
Valid: 4559 Spoilt: 37 Quota: 912 Turnout: 4596 (45.17 per cent)
In June 2021 following the death of councillor Hood, a by-election was held as follows -
Andy Brown (Scottish Labour Party) – 111 votes
David Keating (Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party) – 1240
Trevor Mason (Scottish Liberal Democrats) - 281
Jamie Ogilvie (Scottish Greens) - 130
Dan Ritchie (Scottish National Party SNP) - 963
David Keating was duly elected as the councillor for the East Garioch ward.on a 26.2 per cent turnout.
For 2022 in Ward 12: East Garioch (Four elected) with an electorate of 10,362, the ward is wide open not least following the standing down by Martin Ford and the surprise inclusion of former Conservative and now Independent Jim Gifford who is standing outwith his previous ward of Mid-Formartine.
Candidates are as follows -
Drew Cullinane - Independent.
Rosanna Dobbin - Scottish Labour.
Jim Gifford - Independent.
Dominic Lonchay - Scottish Conservative and Unionist.
Trevor Mason- Scottish Liberal Democrats.
Glen Reid - SNP.
