Aberdeenshire Council has published an update after Sepa issued flood warnings for the region.

In an online statement Aberdeenshire Council said: "Sepa has issued flood warnings around the Aberdeenshire coast - this includes Inverbervie to Tangleha, Stonehaven and Fraserburgh to Rosehearty.

"A combination of high tides and strong easterly winds means that flooding from the sea is expected to affect low lying land, roads and properties.

Aberdeenshire Council has provided an update after flood warnings were issued.

"Flooding impacts are expected around the time of high tides this afternoon and tomorrow (Sunday) at 1am and 1.30pm

"We're also continuing to monitor river levels closely given the forecasted heavy rainfall and, while we’re not currently anticipating flooding, please remember that rivers will react very quickly to heavy, localised rainfall, particularly given the saturated surrounding ground.

"If you do live in a known river or coastal flood risk area please take steps to safeguard your property in the event that there is flooding.

"And we would again urge you all to stay safe and to avoid all harbour walls, clifftops and coastal waters at this time.

"The strong winds also have the capacity to cause some trees to come down – so avoid wooded areas wherever possible – and if you do spot a fallen tree affecting a road or community please report it by calling 03456 081205 (Monday-Friday working hours) or to Police Scotland on 101 (out of hours).

"There’s sure to be surface water across the region which could lead to difficult driving conditions, so if you must head out onto the network, please watch your speed and drive safely.

"A reminder that the A937 road south of Marykirk near North Esk river bridge remains closed as are the A92 Lower North Water Bridge and the A957 Slug Road from Blairydryne Bridge to Lochton Cottage so do not attempt to access these areas.
