Live Life Essentials is the latest measure in a range of things being put in place by the council to help soften the blow of the cost of living crisis.

The initiative will provide opportunities for people to use community facilities and stay warm without fear of stigma.

That includes the use of local libraries, leisure facilities and museums where people will have the opportunity to rent books, soak up some culture as well as access showers, WiFi and charging ports.

The council has also been providing support for households by clearly signposting the different types of support available, whether that is government financial help or advice available locally.

They have also significantly increased the support available to the most vulnerable households in Aberdeenshire who are experiencing fuel poverty.

Scarf’s Home Energy Advice Team will help people to access the financial and practical support they are eligible for.

Aberdeenshire Council also has a range of support available for tenants.

That includes Flexible Funding for tenants experiencing fuel payment pressures, and participation in the Connnecting Scotland initiatives which has seen £410,000 worth of ICT equipment delivered to tenants to combat digital exclusion.

The council has also committed to a wide range of energy efficiency improvements including the installation of renewable energy systems.

Support for businesses is also available with the council's economic development teams available to provide advice to businesses across the region.

That includes the launch of a new business start-up grant scheme funded by the Scottish Government’s Local Economic Covid Recovery Fund which allows start-up businesses to apply for a £1000 grant to help get a new venture off the ground without premises or £3000 for businesses starting up and taking on premises.
