Aberdeenshire Council deploying gritters with cold snap ahead

With another cold evening forecasted across Aberdeenshire the local authority is set to start gritting operations on Monday afternoon.

An Aberdeenshire Council spokesman said: "We will have all 32 gritters out across the network from as early as 3.30pm this afternoon.

"Most areas will also get a follow-up treatment in the morning from around 5.30am - residual salt levels should suffice in remaining locations but crews will, of course, be on standby.

"Showers will fade away early this evening to leave dry, clear and cold conditions for a time with road surface temperatures widely below zero with ice forecasted.

"There may even be a slight covering of snow on the highest routes this afternoon. Snow showers during the second half of the night could produce the odd centimetre away from coastal areas, but 2-3cm possible on the highest routes."
