Aberdeen Performing Arts recruiting for Board members

Aberdeen Performing Arts is recruiting new Board members, and a Chair Elect,with applications now being accepted.

The leading arts organisation, which runs His Majesty’s Theatre, the Music Hall and the Lemon Tree as well as three annual festivals,is looking for new members who can share their skills and experience in overseeing Aberdeen Performing Arts’ governance, strategy and finances.

Candidates do not need an arts background or any particular formal qualification, but should have an interest in the arts.

It is particularly interested in hearing from those who can bring knowledge and lived experience in the cultural sector, philanthropy, hospitality and HR.

Aberdeen Performing Arts Chair, Craig Pike, said: “Aberdeen Performing Arts is at the heart of creative, community and civic life in Aberdeen and the north-east of Scotland.

"We are dedicated to improving life chances through the arts, championing creative diversity, nurturing the next generation of talent, and creating, curating and presenting work on our stages that is relevant, thought-provoking and life-affirming.“

We’re looking for passionate, resourceful and connected individuals who share our values and vision to join our Board in supporting this unique and dynamic organisation.”

A new Chair Elect is also being sought in the recruitment process, with current Chair Craig Pike set to step down next year, following a hugely successful nine year term.

Mr Pike added: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as Chair of Aberdeen Performing Arts Board, and have felt privileged to be a champion, ambassador and custodian for such an amazing organisation.

"I look forward to working with our next Chair over the coming months,to ensure they are fully embedded before I step down in 2024.”

The Board meets four times a year. Appointments are for up to three years initially, and anticipated to start in November 2023.
