Full plans for the fast food restaurant and café have been provided to Aberdeenshire Council.

The application seeks to build two drive thru food and drink outlets and an electric vehicle charging hub with canopy and parking.

Based at Linnorie Business Park, Huntly, the development is under application number: 2023/0305.

New designs submitted to the Council shows the 76 seater branch of McDonalds as the larger unit in the site's northern corner, adjacent to the A96 roundabout.

Starbucks would be on the western edge and the electric vehicle hub in the southern corner.

Aberdeen-based developer West Coast Estates (WCE) is bringing forward the development in partnership with Dean's of Huntly.

Dean's announced the proposals for the £5million new business park, called Linnorie, in November last year.

The charging station will be the third of its kind in Scotland.

The charging station, installed by Fastned, would be a super-fast service.

Linnorie's charging station would be the firm's third one in Scotland and would include four hyperchargers underneath a canopy, each rated at 300kW and serving two bays each.

With a distinctive solar panel roof, the modular unit could also be expanded given increased demand..

Described as “A new place to meet, eat and recharge”, WCE said the proposals could bring significant investment to the area, create jobs and further employment created during construction.

At the time of the announcement last year, Bill Dean, owner and managing director of Dean’s of Huntly, said: “This is a unique opportunity for an established home-grown business such as Dean’s to work with some of the world’s leading brands to create a new place for people to meet and eat, while putting the infrastructure in place to support the growth of electric vehicles.

“Huntly is already a popular destination on the tourist trail and this development would provide a significant economic boost to the area, while creating new jobs for the local area and providing work for the construction sector in the north- east.”
