Home-Start Deveron has been supporting families in the Deveron area since its conception in 1999 and is Chaired by one of its founding members, Christine Cockburn.

Currently operated by a small Board of Trustees, Home-Start Deveron is looking to increase the members of the Board to enable its plans for safeguarding the future and expansion of the service.

The Board is excited to revitalise Home-Start Deveron through an innovative approach and they are creating the opportunity for people to come forward and register their interest in becoming part of the team of Trustees. Individuals are encouraged to become Board members, regardless of experience, as full training will be provided, because the most important and valuable requirements are life experience and empathy.

Director positions will also be made available to lead on business and financial management, marketing and communications, and health and wellbeing.

Christine Cockburn says; “Following a review process last year, we are keen to develop and streamline the support service we offer within the Deveron area, which spans Turriff, Banff/Macduff, Huntly and all outlying areas.

"We plan to make positive changes to ensure the continued viability of the service as more families are struggling due to the uncertainty of the financial climate and added pressures affecting their mental health.

"As a Board we recognise that there is strength in numbers and everyone brings new skills to the table and would love to hear from anyone who may be interested.”

Home-Start Deveron are there when families need them most on both a practical and emotional level.

Offering one-to-one home visiting by trained volunteers, their aim is to guide you through your struggles, offering support and unbiased friendship, to help families find the joy in life together and gain confidence.
