90th birthday celebration for Kemnay social group founder

A BIRTHDAY surprise awaited Kemnay resident Mary Michie at Tuesday's meeting in the Friendship Room at Kemnay Village Hall.

Members of the group had arranged a birthday social to mark her 90th birthday.

A founder and convenor of the Tuesday Centre, Mary had the surprised honour of cutting a magnificent cake.

Also wishing her well were the afternoon's entertainers, the Kintore Linties.

This talented troupe sang their way round the world with their audience having to guess the place names visited, such as China, Amsterdam, Paris, Copenhagen, Stornoway, Spain to name a few.

There was also a colour quiz and a parcel game altered to a Feel the parcel and guess the contents.

Linties leader Mary Burnett said: "We started performing together to mark the Queens Golden Jubilee and enjoyed ourselves so much we just carried on."

Tuesday's event featured the singng sextet also Doric poetry and funny anecdotes.

The next meeting is on Tuesday, December 5 when the Reminiscence group will be joined by an Aberdeenshire libraries team
