Seventeen new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Moray

SEVENTEEN cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray since last week's update, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 272.

This represents a decrease on the 29 cases confirmed last week (from Wednesday to Wednesday) and the 24 confirmed the week prior.

Since November 17, a total of 424 negative tests have been recorded in Moray.

The number of deaths related to the virus in Moray has remained at 22. Of those who have died, 14 have tested positive for covid-19 and died within 28 days and eight have had covid-19 mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 4477 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began. That's an increase of 462 on the 4015 reported last week.

Moray neighbourhood update

Of the cases currently active in Moray, five of them are in the Fochabers, Aultmore, Clochan and Ordiquish neighbourhood area.

Elgin, Buckie, Keith and Lossiemouth all have active cases. There are none in Forres.

The others are spread across the area. The following areas have a confirmed case: Findhorn, Kinloss and Pluscarden Valley; Burghead, Roseisle and Laich; Mosstodloch, Portgordon and seaward; North Speyside and South Speyside and the Cabrach.

Scotland-wide update

Today's daily update shows 880 people in Scotland have tested positive for coronavirus overnight, with 44 deaths of people who tested positive for the virus confirmed.

During the week ending November 25, 42,330 people were newly-tested with 6438 testing positive for the first time.

Since the outbreak began, a total of 1,149,140 people in Scotland have been tested for covid-19, with 90,961 positive and 1,058,179 negative.

In the week ending November 22, 244 deaths were recorded where covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate. That takes the total number of deaths to 5380 across Scotland since the outbreak began.

Of those, 3588 tested positive and died within 28 days.

A total of 84 people are in intensive care in relation to covid-19, with 1161 in hospital.

In total, 7253 patients who have tested positive for covid-19 have been released from hospital since March 5.
