11 new cases of coronavirus confirmed in Moray as total passes 200

ELEVEN new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Moray since last Wednesday, taking the area's total since the outbreak began to 202.

Eleven cases is a decrease on the 17 confirmed last week, and on the 16 and 18 confirmed in the two weeks prior. Since October 27, 372 negative covid-19 tests have been returned in Moray.

The area continues to have fewer cases of coronavirus than any other mainland area in Scotland. The number of deaths related to the virus in Moray is 22. Of those who have died, 14 have tested positive for covid-19 and died within 28 days and eight have had covid-19 mentioned on their death certificate.

NHS Grampian – which includes Moray, Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City – has now confirmed 3485 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began. That's an increase of 217 cases since last week's update, slightly more than the 213 confirmed last week.

The newly-confirmed cases are spread across Moray, with no outbreak in any specific area.

Elgin, Lossiemouth and Keith all have confirmed cases of covid-19.

Four other neighbour areas have confirmed a case of the virus – there are: Findhorn, Kinloss and Pluscarden Valley; Heldon West, Fogwatt to Inchberry; South Speyside and the Cabrach and Burghead, Roseisle and Laich.

Scotland-wide update

Today's daily update shows 1433 people in Scotland have tested positive for coronavirus overnight, with 50 deaths of people who tested positive for the virus confirmed.

During the week ending November 4, 43,338 people were newly-tested with 8041 testing positive for the first time. That's down on the 9500 who tested positive for the first time in the week ending October 21, from 50,419 newly-tested.

Since the outbreak began, a total of 1,011,507 people in Scotland have been tested for covid-19, with 68,444 positive and 943,063 negative.

In the week ending November 1, 167 deaths were recorded where covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate. That's up on the 106 who died the week prior.

A total of 4649 people have now died across Scotland since the outbreak began. Of those, 2927 tested positive and died within 28 days.

A total of 94 people are in intensive care in relation to covid-19, with 1257 in hospital.

In total, 5929 patients who have tested positive for covid-19 have been released from hospital since March 5.
