Born and brought up at Cowbog, New Pitsligo, Mima (Jemima) Still was born on August 24, 1923 and attended the local primary school till aged 14 before taking up a position working at a nursing home in south Wales.

At aged 17 she was called up for National Service during World War II and was involved in catering for the military in Wales.

But the call of home brought her back to the north-east where she married William Still in 1948 and the couple moved to her current home in New Pitsligo's Low Street in 1968.

Mr Still passed away nine years ago, and Mrs Still remains independent at home with the support of her family.

To mark her special anniversary, along with her daughter Sandra, two grand-daughters, their family and her three great-grandchildren they enjoyed a family meal together while at home, a huge array of cards from well wishers including a birthday greeting from His Majesty The King and the Royal British Legion along with flowers and 100th birthday balloons fill the living room of a very special north-east resident.
