With lots of towns and villages gearing up towards Christmas lights switch on events in the coming weeks, there's still plenty of other events taking place across the north-east.

TURRIFF - Turriff Girl Guiding, coffee morning take place on Saturday, November 18 at the BP Centre from 10am - noon. Adults £3, children £1.50, girls in uniform-free. Raffles, home bakes and face painting on offer.

MONYMUSK - Monymusk Christmas Fair on Sunday 19 at Monymusk Hall, 10am-2pm with a variety of lovely stalls, teas, coffee and Lisa's yummy cakes. All proceeds from the day will be donated to Kemfest.

TURRIFF - Monquhitter SWI coffee morning, Saturday 18, 10am - noon Turriff Royal British Legion. Adults - £3, children £1.50. Raffles, lucky squares and guess the sweets.

ABERCHIRDER - Car boot sale, McRobert Park, Saturday 18, 9am to 1pm, £10 per pitch.

CUMINESTOWN - Christmas Craft Fair and Santa's Grotto, Primary School, Saturday 18, 10am - noon. Santas grotto is £5 per child and it is very limited spaces and must be pre booked by emailiing: samg159@gmail.com. Entry £3 per adult and £1.50 per child tea/coffee and fine piece included.

INVERURIE - Inverurie Town Hall, Saturday 18, 8pm, Chiara Trio play works by Brahms, Bridge, McDowall and Debussy. Tickets from eventbrite online or from Novello Gifts priced £13 general admission with concessions available.

TURRIFF - Christmas Fayre coffee morning, Saturday 18, St Congan's Church, admission free, Sale tables from £1, £3, £6, £10 and over new items, including hand-made Christmas cards, local Fintry honey.

ELLON - Victoria Hall, Saturday 18, cinema club showing of The Miracle Club (12A)at 7 pm. Ballygar, Ireland, 1967. A hard-knocks community in outer Dublin marches to its own beat, rooted in traditions of loyalty, faith and togetherness. There's just one tantalising dream for the women of Ballygar to taste freedom and escape the gauntlet of domestic life: to win a pilgrimage to the sacred French town of Lourdes. And with a little benevolent interference from their cheeky and rebellious priest, close friends Lily, Eileen, Dolly and Sheila are the 'lucky' few to win this ticket of a lifetime at their riotous local raffle night.

FOVERAN - Sunday 19, Bulb planting - 1.30pm - 3.30pm at Foveran Village Hall to plant some bulbs around the village. All welcome to come along and help.

OLDMELDRUM - Royal British Legion, Saturday Night Dancing with Ewan Galloway Duo, Saturday 18, 8.30pm start, £8 entry and members and guests welcome.
