10 fun events going on in Aberdeenshire this weekend

As the school holidays get underway across Aberdeenshire, there are a wide range of events going on to entertain children of all ages.

FYVIE- Robin Hood - An inept troupe of only three actors present a calamitous take on the legendary folktale at Fyvie Castle, Saturday, July 8 at 7pm. Outdoor performance. Gates open from 6pm. Picnics welcome. Tickets: threeinchfools.com/upcoming-performances. Standard ticket £18, with reductions for under-18s and families.

CRUDIE - playing fields - Crudie Funday, July 8, 11am-3pm everyone welcome, bouncy castles, fun fair games, raffle and tombola, face painting, ice cream van, tea, coffee and homebakes, stalls, byo BBQ, raffle to be drawn at 2,30pm free entry (wristbands for bouncy castles £5).

TRANQUILITY (near Glen Dronach) - Tranquility Wild West Town open day - Summer Round Up on Sunday, July 9 with free admission.

All events begin at 1.30pm and include horseshoe pitching, knife throwing, target shooting, buffalo hunt (archery), tours of the buildings.

A small raffle will also be held and the winning tickets drawn after the last gunfight. Also music and song with brendan Moir, and a Treasure Hunt for the children!. There will be Gunfights at 2.15pm and 3.15pm approx.

ABERCHIRDER - Car boot sale, McRobert Park, July 8, 9am to 1pm, £10 per pitch, pre booking not required.

GARTLY - Gartly Community Association Fun Dog Show Sunday, July 9, 10am Gartly Community Hall (AKA The Tin Hut). Join us for an event filled with wagging tails, adorable eyes, and amazing tricks! Support charities while enjoying a fantastic time with your furry friends. Exciting Classes and Competitions Rosettes for 1st - 4th and prize for 1st place Best in Show. Qualifiers, refreshments and Stalls supporting charities Santerpaws Rescue, Basset Rescue Network and Gartly Community Association, £2 per class Entries on the day.

ECHT - Echt Show welcome visitors to the 168th Echt Show A day out for all the family exhibiting some of the finest livestock in Scotland, with 80 Trades stands, a Food Fayre, Vintage and modern tractors, demonstrations of horse shoeing and sheep shearing as well as main ring entertainments for the crowds to get involved with- https://echtshow.co.uk/

HUNTLY - Free Summer Bee Trail - find all the bee books and bee related objects Orbs Bookshop have hidden in independent shops around the town. You’ll find the participating shops by looking in the windows for a bee that looks like the one on their posters. Then you’ll need to buzz along inside the shop and see if you can find the bee book or bee related object hidden there. Trail forms can be picked up from the bookshop. Closing date for returned forms is July 26.

TURRIFF - Coffee Morning, July 8 at the Legion from 10am - noon in aid of Turriff Town Pride/Turriff in Bloom.

ELLON - Open Garden Day at Parkvilla, 47 Schoolhill Ellon, Sat/Sun 2pm-5pm. Entry £5, children free. Charity beneficiaries: Ellon Men's Shed, St-Mary-on-the-Rock Episcopal Church, Alzheimer Scotland and SGS selected charities. Homemade tea/coffee/juice and three cakes - £4.

BANFF - Come & enjoy a family fun event at Banff Castle on Saturday 8 from 10am-3pm To celebrate the official unveiling of the Coronation Tree Plaque By The Lord Lieutenant at 11.30am. Entertainment includes Banff Castle Pipe, George Rennie and more with free admission.
