ANTI-SOCIAL drivers will no longer be allowed to make Keith people’s lives a misery.

A new police crackdown launched on Friday, March 27 will, with the public’s help, ease the problems of drivers speeding or causing excessive noise as they continously repeat the circuit from Regent Square in Fife-Keith to Reidhaven Square, Keith.

Sergeant Mark Bayliss has developed the new Fair Warning campaign under Police Scotland’s Operation Cedar (challenge, educate, detect and reduce) to help the Keith community and police work together to deal with anti-social drivers.

It will also address the long-held belief in Keith that complaints in the past have been ignored.

Residents are asked to note the details of any car causing problems and phone Police Scotland on 101, making it clear that the call is about anti-social driving in Keith.

Calls will be tagged and sent to Keith police, and every officer will carry the details with them while on patrol. Offending drivers will also be sent a warning letter and will be charged if police witness the same offence again.

Sgt Bayliss told the ‘Herald’: "The problems with drivers making residents’ lives a misery has been going on for a significant amount of time.

"The main issue is that the drivers in the town are young and have cars with exhausts modified to be louder than they should, or need to be. This causes distress to residents.
