A KEITH care home has been nominated for a national award as a result of “outstanding efforts” to raise standards.

Weston View Care Home - which was taken over by Parklands in September 2023 - is in the running for the Above and Beyond Award at the Stars of Social Care Awards on June 15.

Ron Taylor - who is the managing director of Parklands - explained exactly how the home has been going ‘above and beyond’ since being taken over.

He said: “I want to congratulate the Weston View team for their outstanding efforts to raise care standards, evident in their recent Care Inspectorate report, and our inventive activities teams.

“From pop-up tearooms to podcasts, playgroups to Pride events, Parklands’ homes are not just places of care but vibrant communities where engaging, creative, and meaningful activities thrive, enriching the lives of our residents every day.”

Weston View is one of two care homes in Keith - along with Glenisla - that is working on the Keith Cares Club, which is aiming to prevent social isolation in the town and bring different generations together.

Parklands, which operates both homes, is nominated in two other categories at the Stars of Social Care Awards, the Amazing Activities Co-ordinator Award and the Outstanding Contribution to Care Homes Award, which Ron Taylor himself is in the running for.

The nomination is recognition of Mr Taylor’s 31-year contribution to the care sector. He founded Parklands in 1993.

Parklands’ commitment to diversity and inclusivity, demonstrated through its Parklands Pride festival last summer and support for Pride in Moray, has also seen the group nominated for a Proud Scotland Award on May 31.

Ron Taylor added: “Being shortlisted for these national awards is truly magnificent, reflecting the dedication and passion of our entire team at Parklands.

“We are honoured to be recognised for our commitment to providing exceptional care and fostering inclusivity and wellbeing within our care homes.”

The Social Care Stars Award ceremony is due to take place the London Marriott Hotel and will be hosted by Josie Gibson of ITV’s This Morning.
