DON’T drink and drive.

The KCR presenters and local taxi firms are promoting the message.

It’s a message familiar to most at this time of year and it has been adopted by Keith Community Radio.

The radio station is running a major anti drink drive campaign over the festive period with several local taxi firms, who are advertising their services on KCR.

The message is simple - there are lots of taxi firms, so plan your night out and make sure you’re not tempted to drive after drinking.

Keith girl Kenna Mai Johnston (8), who has the starring role in next year’s production of Oliver! in Elgin Town Hall, is the voice-over artist for the campaign, telling people never to drink and drive.

KCR is extremely grateful for the support for the campaign from Davidson’s Taxis of Keith, Dufftown Taxis, Ace Taxis of Mosstodloch and Buckie, Geoff’s Taxis of Lossiemouth and C&R Taxis of Elgin.

KCR has just completed one of its three main fundraisers of the year, with its Christmas raffle. All 53 winners have now been notified.

John Seivwright, KCR chairman, said: "We are very grateful to everyone who sold and bought tickets. A special thanks must go to Lorna Stephen from Mulben, Geordie Roy from Fochabers and Maureen Copland from Buckie for selling vast amounts of raffle books.

"The money raised helps us maintain the broadcasting equipment."

As well as the raffle, KCR’s other main fundraisers are the tombola in March and a coffee morning in August.

"Thanks to everyone who has supported us throughout the year and, on behalf of the KCR management team and all our presenters, we wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a good new year," said Mr Seivwright.

In the Christmas raffle draw, first prize of £120 was won by Abigail Shand, with the £100 sporting activity voucher for House of Mulben went to Geordie Roy.
