HOPES of finding a future use for the Keith Institute have been given a £166,000 boost.
Moray councillors have approved £76,000 in funding for external improvements to the Category B listed building.
And that will be added to £90,000 available from Keith Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme (Cars) to enable essential works to the former masonic building which is held in trust by Moray Council.
The Keith Strathisla Regeneration Partnership (KSRP) commissioned a report earlier this year by LDN Architects to look at ways it could be brought back into use.
Valery Dickson, KSRP chairwoman, welcomed the decision.
"That is fantastic and is a really positive move," she said. Hopefully they will get the work done quickly and that will stop the building deteriorating, which it was in danger of doing."
