HARD work, determination, and generous support from the community means Keith’s skatepark is on track to become a state-of-the-art facility for local youngsters.

The KERBS (Keith Rollerbladers, BMX and Skateboarders) committee is on a high because, after raising more than £10,000, they are now able to buy two new pieces of equipment for the Cuthil Park skatepark.

The new committee has been in place for just over a year and is delighted that it could raise enough money to buy two new ramps – a combo-box and a roll-in.

Treasurer Kerry Maver said: "By being able to raise enough to buy two pieces of kit at once, we will save a lot of money.

"The company who deliver and install the kit charge £1,000 a day, which includes transport. So getting two pieces on one delivery is great news."

The ramps should also be installed in time for the summer holidays.

Leanne McHardy, chairwoman of KERBS, said buying the ramps was only made possible by the support of the local community and businesses.

A word search sheet and quiz are on sale in the Deli Shop and at the Banffshire Herald office and KERBS will host a coffee morning on April 11 at the North Church Hall.
