A 14-YEAR-OLD girl from the Buckie area has died following a crash near Keith.

Another girl, also 14, was flown by air ambulance to hospital in Glasgow with life-threatening injuries following the crash at 10.38pm on Wednesday, October 26 on the B9016 Keith to Buckie road near Rye Riggs, Aultmore.

The collision involved a black Vauxhall Corsa motor car driven by a 17-year-old male and a grey Nissan Terrano motor car driven by a 42-year-old male. Both these males suffered minor injuries.

There were four females in the black Vauxhall Corsa, including the teenager who died. The other three girls were aged 14, 16 and 17. All were conveyed to Dr Gray’s Hospital by ambulance.

The 16 and 17 year old females have serious injuries but are stable.

Road Policing Sergeant Rob Warnock said, "My thoughts, and that of my officers, are very much with the family and friends of the 14 year old girl who sadly died in this tragic collision."

"I would appeal to anyone who may have seen the crash or who may have seen either vehicle shortly beforehand and who hasn’t yet spoken with Police to do so as a matter of urgency to help us piece together exactly what happened."

Anyone with information who hasn’t yet come forward should contact Police Scotland via 101. The road remains closed while the investigation is carried out.
