James George (94), a former pupil of Keith Grammar School, is travelling to the town with his niece Gabrielle Longmuir.

She said: "My uncle is very much looking forward to this trip as he feels it is a last goodbye to his comrades and visit home one last time.

"He wants to be at the memorial on Remembrance Sunday to honour his fallen comrades one last time."

Raymond Peters, chairman of Keith Royal British Legion, said: "We are delighted that James George will be coming to take the salute on Armistice Day."

The Keith parade takes place at 3pm.
