St Andrew's Church will welcome new minister Carl Irvine on Thursday.

St Andrew's has been without a permanent minister since the death of the Rev Graeme Longmuir in August 2014.

For the past two years the church has been wonderfully looked after by Sheila who has been a shining beacon to the congregation and the wider parish.

Nothing has been too much trouble for Sheila who has endeared herself to everyone with her outstanding pastoral care, her ability to smooth and solve problems , her down to earth sermons laced with her lovely sense of humour, and her magnificent soprano voice which has enhanced all her services.

Her ultimate contribution to St Andrew's has been helping the church to find a new minister.

At the service on January 26, Sheila will be presented with gifts from St Andrew's as a small token of the parishioners' deep appreciation of all she has done for their beloved church.

On Thursday, January 30 at 7pm the Rev Carl Irvine will be inducted into St Andrew's as the new minister.

Sheila Craggs, not only has been Interim Moderator / minister of St Andrew's, but is also Moderator of Gordon Presbytery and as such will conduct Carl's Induction service.

Carl's early education was in the NE of Scotland, at primary school in St Colm's, Fraserburgh Academy, and Lancaster and Aberdeen Universities. He then spent 33 years in various schools as teacher, deputy head and head teacher before training for the ministry.

He graduated with a BA in 2017 which was followed by a probationary period at Oldmeldrum, Bourtie and Kintore churches.

St Andrew's will be Carl's first charge.
