Kiril and Gleb Kostov moved to Huntly from Ukraine with their family in August. When the boys' father, Alexander, got chatting to the groundsman Dylan Allan it became clear the youngsters wanted to get involved in sport.

Dylan, along with club director Mark Allan, put the wheels in motion and arranged for the boys to meet players and be special guests at Huntly FC's match against Deveronvale at the weekend – which Huntly won.

Huntly FC manager Allan Hale said told the Huntly Express: "We were very happy to welcome the boys. It's important to us to do things with the community and it was good to show the family from Ukraine a warm welcome in Huntly."

Father Alexander commented to the football club: "Thank you very much to all the club for the invitation. The boys were so happy and proud. Now they feel like stars.

"Thank you very much to all the people involved."

Director Mark Allan is heavily involved in supplying equipment to Ukraine and will be part of the Scottish Emergency Rescue Association team transporting fire engines there in September.
