OFFICERS from Police Scotland’s Divisional Violence Reduction Unit have executed 18 outstanding warrants across Aberdeenshire during the latest phase of Operation DEKA.

The police have been cracking down on violent offenders.
The police have been cracking down on violent offenders.

The activity took place from June 22-25 June as divisional officers were assisted by officers from the Operational Support Unit.

Officers identified and targeted a number of individuals across the region who were wanted on warrants for outstanding crimes, non-payment of fines, failure to appear at court or failure to comply with court orders.

Fine defaulters with an accumulated debt valued at a low four figure sum were also dealt with during the four day warrants initiative. A total of six people were arrested.

PC Kevin Ritchie said: "Local DVRU officers working closed with colleagues from the Operational Support Unit have successfully completed 18 warrants as part of our latest action.

"This enforces the message that Police Scotland will not allow convicted criminals to avoid paying back their debt to society for crimes that they have committed.

"We will continue to target offenders and I want to thank the public for their continual assistance in tracing wanted persons.

"I urge anyone with a fine or outstanding case to ensure that they make suitable arrangement to deal with the issue to avoid being taken into custody."
