Aberdeenshire’s proposed local development plan identifies sites for development and the policies to be used when making decisions on planning applications.

People in the area will have an opportunity to find out more about what the proposed plan means at a drop-in event in the Stewart’s Hall on Wednesday April 29 between 1pm and 7pm.

The plan, available for public scrutiny until May 5, will ultimately govern what development takes place in the future.

A dedicated online portal has also been set up to allow people to take part in the process of finalising the plan by making comments.

The council’s head of planning and building standards, Robert Gray, said: “I’d encourage anyone with an interest to come along to our sessions, discuss the proposed local development plan with the policy team and find out how to make their views known, or see the extensive information we’ve posted online.”

The new up-to-date blueprint is expected to be adopted by the end of 2016.
