Sergeant Ian Moeller, of Huntly Local Policing Team, said: "This appears to be a targeted theft which has left the owner and wider family devastated. Officers are conducting a thorough investigation, which will continue throughout the weekend.

"I have been delighted with the response to our media release and particularly by the way that the public have shared the information via our social media pages, with the details being sent the length and breadth of the country.

"This is clearly a crime that has struck a chord with the vast majority, who can sympathise with the affect that this theft has had on the owners and the dogs themselves.

"We are determined to reunite these dogs with their owner and I would appeal to anyone with any information in relation to the theft, or who may notice anyone in their community with dogs fitting the description, to contact us."

Anyone with information is asked to call Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
