AN URGENT plea has gone out for people to not discard needles close to a children’s playpark in Huntly.
While the discovery of the needles, thought to be from an epi-pen, is not being treated as a deliberate act, police have warned of the dangers such items pose to young children.
The small needles were found by a council worker as the area was cleared of rubbish.
It is the second time in two weeks that they have been discovered close to the children’s play areas at the Cooper Park and nearby Hill of Haugh.
PC Rob Evans, of the Huntly Police office, said: "This appears to be a case of thoughtless stupidity as opposed to a deliberate act.
"Small children can pick anything up and put them in their mouth and there could be serious implications."
An epi-pen was found in a nearby waste bin and a dirty tissue with blood on it was also left on a picnic table.
"There is no suggestion this was anything to do with controlled drugs."
