All neighbours on Green Road, the ladies had the best possible postman’s knock when People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador, Matt Johnson, delivered the £125,000 prize, shared by Jean McHardy, Susan Borzoni, Cathie Jolly, Beatrice Fowlie and Yunnie MacKinnon.

The ladies’ postcode, AB54 8BE was drawn as the winning postcode for the Saturday Street Prize on July 2, 2016.

One of the lucky players, Susan Borzoni, only signed up to play in February and now has £25,000 coming her way.

Susan, 58, said: “When Matt started pulling out the cheque, I saw the zeros and the five but then the two – I got the shock of my life.

“It was such a surprise but a very pleasant one as you can imagine.

“I think the most I’ve ever won in my life is £100 – so this is huge for me.

“I believe what People’s Postcode Lottery does is amazing – I love the charities that players like me support. It was really nice that there were five winners in the street and we all won the same amount!”

Jean McHardy, 68, has been playing for eight years and said “I’m fairly chuffed, it was a nice surprise.

“It’s basically found money so it’s completely spendable.

“I’m looking to go on a holiday so we’re planning a long haul to Australia now. My partner doesn’t like flying long-haul so we’re looking at first class.

“We’ve got the money and so it’s the way to go. I’ve never turned left on an airplane before, so that will be a lovely experience.

“If people haven’t signed up to People’s Postcode Lottery I would tell people to play.

“I never thought I’d win and I’ve been playing for eight years – and I’ll keep playing now I’ve won.”

Players Beatrice Fowlie, 77, Yunnie MacKinnon, 89, and Cathie Jolly, 72 were also each presented with a whopping cheque for £25,000.

Kennethmont Youth Group received £1572 from the Postcode Lottery to purchase equipment including, pool tables, an air league basketball stand, air hockey table and a fold-away football table.
