A HUNTLY man who suffered a cardiac arrest is now part of a voluntary team set up to help others.

Keith Cruickshank was saved by the quick thinking of a neighbour who performed immediate CPR and a paramedic team who shocked his heart using a defibrillator.

Keith has now signed up to the Sandpiper Wildcat Project which aims to establish teams of cardiac volunteer responders across 50 communities in Grampian.

Huntly paramedic Keri Fickling is spearheading the project after being seconded to the Sandpiper Trust for two years.

"It is amazing that having gone through what he has done," said Keri, "he wants to help people in the way his neighbour helped him."
