AN APPEAL has been made for people in Aberdeenshire to consider fostering and adoption, giving children and young people the stable, loving care they deserve.

Could you be a foster carer?
Could you be a foster carer?

Barnardo’s Scotland Fostering North issued the plea as part of their foster and adoption recruitment campaign.

In Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire there are 406 young people in foster care,. It is estimated that 800 new foster families are needed across Scotland in 2016.

Barnardo’s was one of the first to place children with families and train foster carers to have the right skills to look after children.

Barnardo’s Scotland Fostering North Service Manager, Kim McPherson, said: “Our foster carers and adopters are changing children and young people’s lives for the better. You don’t have to be a saint or a superhero, you just need to be able to offer the loving care they need to help them be themselves.”
