The Esslemont Circle Co-op store and Funeralcare Ellon took to the streets on Wednesday to spread the Christmas cheer and surprise Ellon school crossing patrollers.

School crossing patrollers were presented with Co-op goody bag as a reward for keeping youngsters safe all year round in the town.

There is around 35 years combined service between the patrollers.

The longest serving school crossing patroller in the town is Dave Dawson who will celebrate 18 years of service next year.

While Ian Morrison has followed in his Father-in-laws footsteps as many years ago he also used to work as an Ellon Primary school crossing patroller.

The head janitor at Ellon Academy Stuart Bell who oversees the school crossing patrollers also came along and joined in the fun of surprising his team.

Co-op's Barbara Last said: "We wanted to say thank you for keeping our kids safe in all weathers.

"We see what they do and wished them a very Merry Christmas.

"We think each one is brilliant."
