Festive fun at Ellon Resource Centre

It has been a busy end to 2019 for Ellon Day Opportunities.

Christmas is a busy time for everyone, but the team at Ellon Resource busy have been especially busy with fundraisers, discos, entertaining in the community and announcing their annual photography competition winner.

Ellon Day Opportunities held a Christmas Fair earlier in the month which boasted various stalls, including stalls from Ellon Can Do and Benchmark, as well as the opportunity to enjoy refreshments.

The event was well supported by the community.

The group also welcomed Gemma from Jim Jamieson Quarries, who collected over 1700 selection boxes and advent calendars to donate to groups and charities in the north east.

She brought them all an advent calendar to help make the countdown to Christmas even more exciting.

In total 22 groups have benefitted from the collection, including Home Start, Charlie House, Befriend A Child, emergency services, sick kids and maternity hospitals and local care homes.

The Ellon Day Opportunities dance group hold a monthly disco on a Thursday afternoon in the Tolbooth in Ellon, and this has continued to be a greatly enjoyed event with some of the service users also taking on the role of DJ.

The Ellon Day Opportunities Drama Group have taken their festive production on tour.

Residents in many of the local care homes have enjoyed the group's story about a snowman who starts melting.

The results of the monthly magazines annual photography competition is always greatly anticipated by readers, and this year the judges were faced with more than 80 photographs to try and whittle down to a top three.

In the end the decision was too difficult and the judges chose joint first place winners Patsy Clark - with her photograph of a river scene - and Charlotte McDonald - with her photograph of a rainbow at the beach.

The runners up were Peter Murray and Lucas Rohwerder.

Most recently Ellon Resource Centre held a Christmas jumper day, which saw people come together in festive attire to enjoy various fun activities and games.
