THE coronavirus lockdown may have put paid to this year's Moray Jobs Fair but job seekers in the region will still have the opportunity pursue new career goals.

The event, which is normally held in September, is run by the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) and brings together a variety of employers and those either looking for a job or seeking a change of career direction.

However, the DWP are set to hold a virtual jobs fair at the end of the month, as Forres-based employer and partnership manager Jane Munro explained.

"It's a big shame we can't have the jobs fair as usual this year as it;s a very popular event, but we're going to hold a virtual jobs fair on Twitter on Friday, July 31.

"This will run from 11am until 11.30am and will feature one vacancy a minute appearing. The theme for this is the care sector and if more employers step forward with vacancies it may well end up with more than one vacancy a minute being show.

"It's a great chance for customers to see what's out there and get in touch with employers.

"We held a virtual jobs fair in February of this year focusing on the hospitality industry which proved very popular so we're hoping this enjoys similar success."

Ms Munro added that she was keen to hear from employers interested in participating in the event.

Also for those looking to enter the care sector, the DWP are looking at running virtual care courses. Those interested should speak to their DWP work coach.
