Portknockie Community Association (PCA), Findechty Men's Shed and Portknockie Paddling Pool Committee enjoyed a profitable trip to the Victoria Hotel in the village to receive cheques for £500, £140 and £140 respectively.

The cash was raised thanks to customer donations to a charity bottle kept in the bar, which was emptied and the contents counted after the festive season. The sum was topped up by owners Lorraine and Davis Boa, who took over the hotel last August and have been transforming the business's fortunes.

Mrs Boa said: "We're delighted to have raised so much, it's certainly not bad going for just four months or so.

"We'd like to thank everyone who gave so generously and it's great to be able to support these good causes."

The PCA were awarded their windfall due to their tireless work in all weathers brightening up the village, including floral displays during the summer months. The group also run the McBoyle Hall in the village.

Meanwhile, Finechty Men's Shed brought the festive season alive for Portknockie folk when they gave Santa a hand going round the village.

For the last few years, the paddling pool group have been working hard to revive the iconic paddling pool and surrounding at the harbour.
