SSEN crews are still battling to reconnect homes and businesses to the grid after Storm Arwen left a train of devastation in its wake when it hit last Friday.

A total of 105,000 customers have had their power restored since then, with 15,000 currently off supply.

This includes 3125 in Moray with a further 8507 in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.

SSEN have stated that the remaining high voltage faults (representing the lines that connect larger population centres), are being worked on throughout today and good progress continues to be made. It is hoped that the majority of these faults to be restored today.

For localised faults, restoration times are likely to extend beyond today and customers are encouraged to explore alternative arrangements, where necessary, which SSEN teams are happy to help coordinate where required.

For any customer who remains off supply and is unable to make alternative arrangements, SSEN will reimburse reasonable costs for alternative accommodation and food. Customers unable to access the organisation's welfare facilities for free hot food and drinks can also claim the cost of takeaways or meals from local establishments, up to £15 per person. Customers are asked to retain their receipts in order to obtain reimbursement.

We again encourage you all to keep highlighting any concerns or enquiries from your constituents and we’ll do our best to provide updates and support as required.

Greg
