A VERY special four-legged guest claimed the spotlight when Arradoul SWI held their April meeting.
Taking centre stage was Tommy the dog, joined by his owner Emma Marandola and the Moray representative for Therapets, Maureen Thomson.
Maureen explained how the Therapet system works with volunteers taking their dogs to visit residents in a variety of places, including care homes as well as colleges and schools. There are even Therapets at Aberdeen Airport to help destressed passengers before flying.
There is a good variety of Therapets in Moray, ranging from the smallest, a Chihuahua, to the largest, a Newfoundland.
They are all very good natured dogs that enjoy meeting people. Apparently during Covid some of the dogs were getting depressed not being able to do their 'work' and missed seeing people.
However, the star of the evening was definitely Tommy and he sprinkled his magic onto all the members.
Competition results: Homemade gift for a dog – 1. Susan Clarke, 2. Sarah Carrington; Flower of the month – 1. Veronica Thow, 2. Marian Stringer.
The next meeting is the Taste and Try and AGM on Tuesday, May 16 at 7.30pm in Arradoul SWI hall.
