A cracking summer's day was in store for pupils, staff and parents alike.

The youngsters took part in 12 circuits around the sports field.

The parent council set up stalls for pupils and their cheering families. The tombola and lucky squares raised money for school funds and prizes were donated, many by local businesses.

The local Co-op provided fruit and water for the competitors.

After the potted sports and an ice cream break courtesy of the parent council, each child took part in a running race. Adults then had the chance to race and many came forward, much to the joy of the youngsters.

Kim Karam, Milne's headteacher at the time of the sports day, added: "Many thanks to the music teacher Ms Young, the PE teacher Mr West, the janitor, Mr Smith, the staff and parent council of Milne’s Primary School who made this lovely event possible."
