Guest speakers announced for tsiMoray Join the Dots conference

THE full list of guest speakers for the forthcoming Join the Dots conference in Moray has been unveiled.

Due to take place in Elgin Town Hall on Thursday, March 21 from 10am to 4pm, the event will be focussing on three priorities, entitled Building Belonging, Using AI and Technology for Good and Advancing Local Climate Action.

A total of four guest speakers will be addressing issues surrounding those main themes. Set to take to the stage will be Dr Claire Bynner, Christine Fairbairn, Calum McDonald and Jess Pepper.

Dr Bynner is a lecturer in Social Justice and Community Action at the University in Edinburgh. Her recent research centres around we build social connections and belonging.

Ms Fairbairn is the Engagement and Membership Lead with Scottish Rural Action, with a focus on driving rural empowerment and social impact. She is no stranger to Moray and has spent many years building belonging in the third sector. She is currently treasurer and trustee of the Findochty and Buckie Development Trust and is part of a team who set up a community hub to support those affected by the cost-of-living crisis in Buckie.

An Engagement Officer with Scottish AI Alliance, Mr McDonald will be cutting through all the noise about what AI, helping to find the right tools for the right jobs, and show how AI and emergent technologies are used for good.

Climate Café founder and director, Jess Pepper, will also take to the stage. She has, quite literally, has got the world talking about climate action with her very simple idea of the Climate Café, now a global phenomenon. Jess will be speaking about how coming together is essential for local climate action.

The event is being sponsored by Moray Local Action Group and Moray Climate Action Network. They will also be there on the day giving updates on work, including Moray Local Action Group's new community led vision for Moray.
