This Wednesday will see the first meeting to formally establish the Findochty and Buckie Development Trust (FAB DT) and the fledgling group would be delighted to hear from people from all walks of life who would be prepared to lend some of their time and skills.

The steering group are keen to recruit as wide a pool of volunteers as possible from which up to nine trustees will be drawn.

Susan Chalmers, who chairs the steering group, said: "I'm pleased with the response so far to our appeal for volunteers, but there is still time for anyone interested to apply.

"Forms are available from The Hub on East Church Street, or can be completed on the night."

Development trusts are community organisations which are owned and managed by local people who develop projects focussed on economic, environmental and social regeneration. These can range from small quick fixes like repairing a path, to more complex goals like creating a multi-purpose community centre.

The story so far is the culmination of a year or so hard work for the steering group, who are determined that the Buckie and Findochty area make the most of the funding opportunities available.

The meeting is due to take place in Victoria Park Function Hall, getting under way at 7pm.
