The evening was opened by Arradoul SWI president Coleen Mackenzie, who congratulated members on their many successes at Keith Show and thanked them for their hard work and efforts which made the Sunday Teas in July so successful.

She then introduced the speakers for the evening Lisa Morrison and Gail Duncan who talked about Discovery Awards. These awards are non-competitive challenges for individuals over 50, regardless of status, health or ability. The challenge is for individuals to discover new strengths and hidden talents, new interests or life in old ones as well as getting satisfaction of helping others.

Individuals complete at their own pace and work to achieve bronze, silver and gold awards in a range of areas such as hobbies and interest, service to community and recreational pursuits.

The monthly competition winners were: Flower of the month – 1. Sarah Carrington; 2. Alvina McNair. Story on a hobby/interest – 1st Jessie Low 2. Janet Winterbourne.

The next meeting on Tuesday, October 17 is a talk by Humanist celebrant Sharon Short.

Arradoul SWI are to hold a quiz in the hall on Friday, November 3 at 7.30pm. Teams of up to six people, £12 per table which includes refreshments. To book contact Coleen Mackenzie on (01542) 850241 or Janet Winterbourne on (01542) 850420.
