The annual charity fundraiser, run by the Rotary Club of Buckie, is set to get under way on Sunday, April 30 and is welcoming applications from individuals and groups alike to complete the 15-mile course in aid of local good causes.

There will be a new start/finish point this year, moving from the South and West Church hall last year to the Boys' Brigade's new base at One Marchmont Business Centre.

One of those looking forward to the event is Six Harbour Walk joint convener Andrew Murray.

He said: "This'll be the first Six Harbour Walk since the Covid restrictions were lifted, so we're really looking forward to being to operate normally.

"Last year we were finding our feet after the lockdowns, which meant we couldn't hold the walk in 2020 and 2021 so it'll hopefully be back to normal this time around.

"This year we're looking to keep the money raised solely with local charities and good causes. We're inviting local groups and organisations to get in touch with us if they'd like to apply for funding.

"We know times are hard and money is tight so we don't have a fundraising target for the walk, we'll be grateful to get what we can and get as many people coming along as possible."

Groups interested in receiving money from the Six Harbour Walk proceeds should email info@sixharbourwalk.com

Groups of four or more walkers can split the funds they raise between the Rotary and their own chosen good causes. All walkers who are eligible to are encouraged to gift aid their donations, which means that Buckie Rotary back can claim back an extra 25p from each pound in the donated sum to give to local charities.

Registration opens at One Marchmont at 8am for those signing up on the day, with those who require transport being bussed to Portsoy Harbour at around 9am for a 9.30am start to the walk.

The route take participants along the coastal path to the beach at Sandend before cutting across the headland to the site of the former salmon bothy at Cullen. Walkers then head across Cullen beach and up on to the cliffs at Portknockie, passing the Bow Fiddle rock, before descending to the harbour at Findochty. The last part of the walk follows to coast through Strathlene into Buckie.

There is also a shorter route available, which begins at Cullen.
